Most in-demand jobs in Ukraine 2026: salaries by region and the cities with the most vacancies

November 3, 2026

Which professions are in the highest demand in Ukraine in 2026, how much do they pay, and which regions and cities have the most jobs? This guide collects the most recent public numbers from robota.ua, Work.ua, the State Employment Service and the Ministry of Finance salary tables, with the limits of each figure stated openly, so you can choose a profession and a city with open eyes.

The most in-demand professions in Ukraine in 2026

According to robota.ua data for the second quarter of 2026 (as reported by Finance.ua), these professions made up the largest share of all vacancies:

ProfessionShare of all vacanciesTypical offered salary, UAH/month
Sales assistant / sales consultant8%~18,000
Driver4%~22,300
Accountant4%~22,000
Cook / chef3%~12,200
Nurse and junior medical staff3%~13,000

The numbers come from a secondary publication and describe averages of advertised salaries, not what people finally receive. Treat them as an orientation point for negotiation rather than a rule.

Where the shortage of workers is the sharpest

Work.ua analysts have named the same three areas for several years in a row: manual and technical trades, logistics and transport, and healthcare. The State Employment Service confirms it for drivers: almost seven thousand vacancies for them are open across Ukraine at once. In practice this means:

  • for drivers, couriers, warehouse workers, loaders there are many employers and a low entry threshold;
  • for skilled workers — electricians, welders, mechanics, builders — the shortage means employers are looking for people, so ask about training and a qualification ladder;
  • for nurses and medical support staff vacancies are open nationwide, and the offered pay (about 13,000 UAH) is lower than for drivers or accountants, so compare it with the benefits and schedule.

Which professions pay more

Among the mass professions above, drivers and accountants offer the most. Beyond them, advertised pay is highest where a scarce skill meets a larger employer: IT and engineering, management, sales of complex products, qualified technical trades. For a candidate without experience, a scarce working profession with employer training is a realistic entry point, because that is where the shortage is.

Salaries by region of Ukraine

The Ministry of Finance's monthly tables of average salary by region show the following picture for July 2026: the highest averages were recorded in Luhansk region (about 35.4 thousand UAH) and Kyiv region (about 33.3 thousand UAH), the lowest in Chernivtsi region (about 23.4 thousand UAH) and Kirovohrad region (about 23.5 thousand UAH). In March and April, Dnipropetrovsk region was also among the leaders.

How to read it correctly:

  • The figure for Luhansk region most likely reflects a small base of reporting employers rather than a high level of living standard; this is our interpretation and the table itself does not explain it.
  • Regional averages are driven by large employers: a few big industrial or state companies raise the average for the whole region.
  • The same publisher shows slightly different numbers for the same month on different pages, so check the original table before quoting a figure.
  • Advertised salary in a city can differ strongly from the regional average: Work.ua puts the average advertised salary in Kyiv at about 32.5 thousand UAH, with the national average at about 27.5 thousand UAH.

Where the most vacancies are: Kyiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv

Work.ua publishes the number of open vacancies by city. In one of its published snapshots, about 89,000 vacancies were spread over roughly 600 cities, and the largest centers were:

CityOpen vacancies (Work.ua snapshot)
Kyiv22,616
Lviv6,518
Dnipro4,851
Odesa3,963
Kharkiv2,962

The snapshot has no date, and another page of the same site shows slightly higher numbers (Kyiv about 25.9 thousand, and about 5 thousand vacancies for remote work), so use it to compare cities with each other, not as an exact count. The ranking is stable: Kyiv offers several times more jobs than any other city, while Lviv, Dnipro and Odesa form the second tier.

How to choose a city and a profession in 2026

  1. Start with demand, not with the average salary. Open the category of your profession and see how many vacancies are open now and in how many cities.
  2. Compare offers in your city, not in the country. Kyiv's average includes the high-paying IT and corporate sector that a retail or logistics worker will never see.
  3. Look at the commute. A job near home with a slightly lower salary often wins after transport costs and time are counted. Use the map view of jobs near you.
  4. Check the remote option separately. There are about five thousand remote ads at Work.ua, but demand for them is much higher than supply.
  5. Negotiate with numbers. Quote the typical salary for your profession and ask the employer where in the range the offer sits.
